Food of the Day #5 @ Uncle Jang Korean Restaurant

Compared to the Korean BBQ Restaurants here in Malaysia. Uncle Jang serves a different dish called Dak Galbi. Dak Galbi is a dish consisting of marinated chicken, chili pepper paste, cabbage, sweet potato, scallions, onions and rice cake that is stir-fried.

My friends have been talking about this place for some time and I finally went to the Puchong branch to try it. They have branches at Mont Kiara, Ampang and Bukit Indah (JB) as well.

The hot plate is  placed in the middle of the table while the waiter will stir-fry it for you until it's cooked :)
Ramen is included in the dish. However you'll have to order a minimum of 2 portion, either spicy or non spicy. Took the non spicy one since my grandma can't eat spicy. They also provide lettuce for you to wrap it with the dak galbi.

2 portion is just right for 4 person or depending on how much you eat. If you feel it's not enough, you can ask them to add additional rice or ramen. Additional stuff will be charged of course.

Try it if you're looking for something different from the usual Korean BBQ. But beware because of the ventilation, your clothes and hair will smell like Dak Galbi at the end of the day. They don't have an air vent to suck up the fumes.

Another thing I would recommend is the Korean Makgeolli (rice wine). The drink is sweet and has a smooth & milky texture. Compared to Korean Soju, I prefer Makgeolli :)

Uncle Jang Dak Galbi Korean Restaurant is located at:

  2. Does the rice wine have strong alcohol smell as well? Japanese Sake is strong and spicy, I thought Korean wine is almost the same
