Recently I attended a Korean beauty workshop at MUSE by Watsons courtesy of The Butterfly Project. The word 'muse' is defined as a woman who is the source of inspiration for a creative concept. MUSE by Watsons flagship store is designed with this concept in mind!

I have always been curious by how the skin of Korean woman looks so flawless and radiant...and the secret to it is their facial regime! I have seen people using more extensive regime which consist a lot more products which I think adds on while we age. For now, 10 steps still seems a lot as we are constantly exposed to the simple 3 steps facial regime which is cleanse, tone, and moisturized. Especially in our humid country, we definitely need more steps in protecting our skin from free radicals and pollution.

Amanda Gan, the brand manager of MUSE by Watsons explained to us the 10 steps of Korean regime while their beauty consultant demonstrated it on a model.

Step 1: Remove makeup / Pre-cleanse
Using the 'double cleanse' method, remove makeup with a gentle makeup remover fir the eyes and lips, followed by a cleansing oil for the face. Use a nutrient-rich cotton wipe which is gentle on the skin and then use a deep cleansing oil to draw out impurities within the pores.

Step 2: The Cleanse
For the second part of the 'double cleanse' method, Korean women usually will cleanse with a mild cream or foaming cleanser depending on the skin type. It is to further remove any excess traces of makeup or dirt on the surface of the skin. In this step, gently massage that face to increase circulation which will bring out a brighter complexion.

The Ibling Sonic Pore Face Cleanser uses sonic action to deeply cleanses and exfoliates the skin. Even when placed on water, it remains calm and does not splash the water away, which I believe is beneficial to the skin as it proves that it won't be harsh on the skin.

Step 3: The Exfoliator
As our skin is constantly exposed to pollutants, we will need to scrub our face once or twice a week to remove the dead skin cells so that our pores will not be clogged. Do focus more on troubled areas that has visible pores and blackheads on the nose.

Step 4: The Refresher
After cleansing our face, we will need a toner to balance and restore our skin's pH level to allow better absorption of the next product, which is Essence. Toning also helps to tighten our pores.

Step 5: The Essence
Essence is often regarded as the most important step of the Korean skincare regimen. Essence is a nourishing liquid concentrate that enhances the skin's cellular renewal process, and increases the skin elasticity and firmness. Apply to a cotton pad and tap the product into the skin

Step 6: The Ampoule
Ampoules contain concentrated active ingredients with smaller molecules for a deeper penetration to target specific skin concerns. It targets problems like signs of aging, pigmentation, excessive oil production and many more, depending on the range of ampoule.

Step 7: The Sheet Mask
On top of the usual skincare routine, use a sheet mask twice a week or more if the skin condition is dry. Sheet masks are soaked in nutritious ingredients which are then absorbed into the skin. It forces the skin to absorb the nutrients and moisture intensively, before allowing the other products a chance to evaporate.

Step 8: The Eye Cream
The skin around our eyes are very thin and fragile as compared to our facial skin, hence it requires extra gentle care. It is more prone to lines, wrinkles and dehydration; so it is essential to pamper the area around the eyes. Gently tap the product around the entire eye to keep the area moisturized to prevent fine lines.

Cremorlab Wrinkle Off Eye Cream, 15ml, RM89

Step 9: The Moisturizer
Replenish the skin's hydration by locking it in with a lightweight emulsion. Use the fingertips to gently massage the product into the face and neck to promote healthy blood circulation.

Cremorlab Fresh Water Gel, 100ml, RM119
CLIV Mediclear Cream, 70g, RM180

Step 10: The Night Cream
The final step is to apply a night cream to help lock the goodness of the serums or ampoules while adding moisture and firming effect (for anti-aging range). Another option is to use a sleeping pack which is a jelly-like texture packed with moisture and nourishing benefits, leaving the skin soft and well-hydrated.

However, during the day time, this step can be skipped but remember to use a sunblock or BB cream before stepping out!

Cremorlab Enriched Moisture, 45ml, RM129
CLIV Active Resurgence Wine Capsule Gel, 50ml, RM100

I went for the skin analysis with MUSE Beauty Consultant. This skin analysis is free for consumers where MUSE Beauty Consultant will provide you with a better understanding of you skin. As u can see, I was highly concentratinb on the computer screen that was generation the image of my skin condition. The results were ok and they printed out a elaborated hard copy for my reference which basically said that I have will have to drink more water, prevent from sleeping late, don't be too stressed, and choose products that is suitable for my skin as it is quite thin...to achieve a healthy and flawless skin, I must work hard as there is still a long way to go!
