Whether it is an afternoon tea party or a post-dinner tea party, you can spend more quality time with your friends or family with a warm cup of tea for everyone, some snacks and watch some Christmas movies or play some games with them to chill and relax :)

The BONS Cafe @ Damansara Jaya

 photo DSC_9677-2.jpg
I have not been cafe hopping much lately as you would have notice on my Instagram. As I was craving for some caffeine and food, the BONS Cafe contacted me and asked if I would love to go over for a review. Of course, I immediately said yes :)

Kee's Creampuff @ USJ Taipan

 photo IMAG0169-2.jpg
Kee's Creampuff has been around for some time now and I always hear people talking about it but never had to time to go. Once of the main reasons is due to parking which is a problem especially during weekdays where there is literally no parking in the area. So my friends and I decided to drop by during the weekend afternoon where we managed to find a parking spot.

Menu on the wall!

 photo DSC_5937-2.jpg
It was a quiet Sunday afternoon so we had time to decide on what we wanted.

Black Sesame Cream Puff! I am not a fan of black sesame but my friends said it is good.

 photo IMAG0160-2.jpg
The classic cream puff is a must have!
Also, I couldn't resists ordering the durian cream puff which is amazing!

 photo IMAG0167-2.jpg
Beside the usual creampuff, we decided to try out their savoury range which is the Mashed Potato with Beef Strips and also Curry Chicken with Walnut. But honestly, the savoury range isn't as impressive to me. I still prefer my creampuffs sweet :)

The Curious Goat @ Damansara Perdana

 photo DSC_5760-2.jpg
Located behind the quiet street of Damansara Perdana, The Curious Goat is a hidden cafe that needs to be stumbled upon due to the lack of signboard. Remember my previous post where I had the food tasting for John Ross Junior?

 photo DSC_5814-2.jpg
 photo DSC_5816-2.jpg
I had a hard time finding this place especially in the dark due to the black coloured building it is nestled in. I probably zoomed pass this place at least 4 times when my GPS told me I have already arrived at my destination. However, I spotted the graffiti outside the shop and decided that must be the cafe and I was right!

 photo DSC_5765-2.jpg
Their menu is not extensive on the food side as their forte is in coffee. But if you plan to have dinner there, there is food and dessert available :)

 photo DSC_5766-2.jpg
Cosy and chill interior which is good when you want to catch up with friends.

Ice Honey Latte, RM13
My go-to drink if I am at Curious Goat as it does not keep me awake at night! I also love the hint of honey after drinking it.

The Curious Goat uses Grade 1 of 100% arabica beans from Sulawesi Toraja. The coffee they serve is always consistent. Especially when roasting the coffee beans, sometimes it can be burnt, resulting in bitter and sour taste in the coffee. I always encounter these at various cafes, but at The Curious Goat, they take things seriously!

Blonde Brownie, RM16
Usually brownies are chocolate in colour. However, The Curious Goat uses brown sugar instead of cocoa to bake the brownie. Hence the name, blonde brownie. It is served with vanilla ice cream.

Pizza Hut Jam-Packed Pizza Blogger Party

Recently, I was invited to the Pizza Hut Blogger Party to check out their newly launch pizza called Jam-Packed pizza! It was held at the Maju Junction outlet in KL. It was my first time in Maju Junction so luckily I had my GPS with me :)

Mr. Yusof Ishak, Senior Marketing Manager giving his speech

"“Double-layered, Jam-packed, and Extra-ordinary” best illustrates the latest offering from Pizza Hut, offering an abundance of flavours in just one pizza! Nothing brings people together like a good delicious pizza and Pizza Hut has proved its commitment time and time again in creating the best scrumptious “signature” pizzas that customers love at an affordable price. While waiting for food to be served, Pizza Hut organized a photo contest where we had to take a groufie with the pizza. A Twitter contest was also held and the winners with the most creative caption wins!

Having some starters before the pizza arrives!

As the name suggests, the Jam-Packed Pizza is a double layered pizza loaded with sauces, toppings, and 3-flavoured cheese, giving twice the satisfaction in each bite. Indulge in the delicious crispy upper tortilla crust topped with luscious pesto sauce, shredded chicken, chicken pepperoni florets and capsicum.  The bottom pizza complements the flavours on top with an abundance of chicken pepperoni and fresh ingredients that are simply irresistible.

In conjunction with Christmas celebrations, Fish & Co organized a party to launch their new and exclusive Christmas Menu called Fish'mas Platter. The official launch of the Christmas menu was held at Fish & Co.’s flagship store at Pavilion KL.

The event was attended by over 150 guests. Some of the guest lists included VIPs, press, media and celebrities such as Hujan, Vagabonds, Bittersweet and Oh Chentaku!

Steve Tan, Director of Fish & Co. officiated the launching of the platter together with Suan Ai, the Marketing Director of Pavilion KL. “This Christmas, we were inspired by Caribbean cuisine. The event continued with ice-breaking games such as ‘Most Amazing Santa Beard’ and ‘Fill the Stocking’. Winners walked away with RM 50 Fish & Co. vouchers. Guests also enjoyed photobooth activities. All guests were deliciously served with the star dish of the evening - Fish’mas Platter.

The event ended with a special appearance by Santa Claus, accompanied by two elves who continued to spread the joy of Christmas spirit and gave out Christmas Survival Kits, consisting of Christmas tree ornaments, Fish & Co.’s Christmas themed gift wrapper, Christmas tree sugar glazed cookies and Fish & Co.’s signature document folder.

The Fish’mas Platter Set for 2 consists of a huge platter medley of fresh and succulent seafood with tender juicy chicken baked in the goodness of Cajun spices. Foodgasm Fest 2.0

 photo DSC_6164-2.jpg
 photo DSC_6211-2.jpg
 photo DSC_6203-2.jpg
Food is a universal language and Foodgasm Fest 2.0 brought in many crowd at Taman Rimba Kiara TTDI last Sunday. I headed out with my friend, Amelia to the food festival around 11.30am. Due to limited parking space and people parking at the side of the road, the traffic condition was pretty bad. I decided to park a few kilometres away from the location and walk there. Luckily, a parking spot was found quickly opposite the school. The walk was far but most of the people did the same thing to avoid being caught in traffic.

 photo DSC_6172-2.jpg
We arrived to a crowded venue where people were already at the festival since 10am. The atmosphere was lively and bustling with people walking about the food stalls and queuing up for food. We came across some booth in the middle of the park which has a freaking long queue and I was curious about it so I asked one of the people wearing the Foodgasm Fest shirt on what is it about. They were selling drinks there and I was telling my friend that I am not going to line up that long just to buy drinks, and thinking that the other stalls will sell drinks...might as well just purchase from them. Turns out, I was wrong! There was only ONE place that sell drinks and we had to queue for a long time. So, I decide to get the drinks while Amelia queued for food.

The 'best' thing about this drink stalls is that there are about 5 to 6 different lines with three different banners and only one stated the word 'drinks'. The others mentioned 'merchandise' and other items which I can't remember but people were still selling drinks there so I just queued up at any of those line. However, while almost reaching the counter, I heard the seller mentioned that they only sell non-chilled drinks at their stall which is those fruity juice in a bag. If we want to buy chilled drinks, we have to line up at the other counter. Most of the people were quite upset due to the long line, hot weather and along with the lack of clear instructions and signage.

If they were to monopolize on selling the drinks, it would be better to place a few stalls around the festival grounds so that people have easy access to drinks and not queue at one spot only. The thing is, the drinks seller can't even churn out the amount of drinks at the pace of people are lining up. Some had to wait for more than while waiting for the chilled drinks to arrive and even then, the drinks are not really cold :(

Another notable thing is the glass bottles that is used for the drinks can be recycled but on the festival grounds, only black trash bag were seen so all the rubbish goes there and it minimizes the effort for people to recycle.

 photo DSC_6178-2.jpg
Enough of talking about the bad organizing of the drink stalls. Luckily for me, I decided to get a couple of bottles at one go so we don't have to queue up for drinks again. The festival was full of tantalizing food and it was so hard to choose especially with over 100 food stalls!

 photo DSC_6256-2.jpg
 photo DSC_6180-2.jpg
 photo DSC_6210-2.jpg
There were so many kinds of dessert and pasties like cronuts, brownies in a cone, potted ice cream that looks really appetizing but I couldn't just buy all of it. The weather was really hot as well so I did not have much cravings for cakes or desserts that are too filling.

 photo DSC_6192-2.jpg
Artisan peanut butter were sold as well. As I am not a huge fan of peanut butter, I had a sample which tasted quite good due as they mixed it with other flavours like kaya, chocolate etc.

 photo DSC_6187-2.jpg
Lekor is a must have!

 photo DSC_6230-2.jpg
There were a couple of BBQ stalls which look really appetizing! But due to the heat, I really wanted something that is more refreshing. It would be better to attend the food festival in the evening but I had something on so I couldn't stay long. It was raining in the evening as well so I was quite lucky to avoid the downpour but had to endure the heat!

 photo DSC_6171-2.jpg
 photo DSC_6240-2.jpg
What I had was nachos, lekor, a sandwich from #NamjaKitchen and coconut ice cream. The queue for the coconut ice cream was long but it was worth the wait! I definitely felt more refreshed after having the coconut ice cream. Not to mention, they gave out free coconut juice while we were in line :D As I had prior engagement to attend to, I left the festival ground around 1.30pm.

Overall, Foodgasm Fest has a great selection of food but can be improved in terms of drinks and parking arrangements. Perhaps they can hold it in a bigger venue with ample parking space in the near future that won't disrupt the traffic in the residential area.

John Ross Jr. - Traditional Scottish Smoked Scottish Salmon

 photo DSC_5769-2.jpg
Recently, I was invited to a cafe in Damansara Perdana called The Curious Goat where I got to taste traditional Scottish smoked salmon by the brand John Ross Jr. (Aberdeen) Ltd, one of the most respected purveyors of premium smoked salmon in the UK. John Ross Jr. supplies smoked salmon to The Curious Goat and therefore, they decided to hold the tasting session there! It is a suitable place as well due to the cosy environment and laid-back atmosphere.

 photo DSC_5806-2.jpg
John Ross Jr. opened its door in 1857 where they have produced Scottish Smoked Salmon in the truly traditional way. Using red bricks kilns dating back to the 19th century, the master smoker hangs the salmon over smoldering fires of oak-chippings. This time-honoured and rare cold smoking method produces the most succulent flavour and tender texture of smoke salmon.

John Ross Jr. salmon are locally sourced from the cold clear waters of Scotland, and they contain no artificial flavourings or preservatives. It is packed with goodness, including omega 3 fatty acids that is beneficial in maintaining a healthy heart.

With their strong traditional values, John Ross Jr. has won many awards and they are a Royal Warrant Holder, where they supply their smoked salmon to Her Majesty, The Queen and the Royal Family for over 25 years!

The Curious Goat served us appetizer while preparing the Scottish Smoked Salmon!

 photo DSC_5833-2.jpg
We were served a platter of smoked salmon which consists of Traditional Smoked Salmon with Cracked Black Pepper for those who prefer a kick of flavour, Whisky Smoked Salmon that is infused with Balvine Whisky to bring a rounded sweetness, and Sliced Tea Smoked Salmon that is cold smoked using the Chinese Tea - Lapsang Souchong (立山小種) which is renowned for its aromatic smokey flavour.

 photo DSC_5823-2.jpg
We also had Dill Sauce by CoIn Valley and Inverawe Hot Banana Chutney sauce to pair with the salmon. I must say I prefer the Dill Sauce as its flavour specially produced as an accompaniment with salmon!

 photo DSC_5856-2.jpg
After that, we were also presented with another dish which consists of the Curious Goat's Panini that is topped with cream cheese & John Ross Jr. Classic Smoked Salmon. Next to it was the Grilled Mozzarella Cheese Sandwich stuffed with chicken and served with salad on the side.

After our delicious meal, we enjoyed the coffee and dessert served by The Curious Goat which I will blog about it on a separate post.
